Google search results are often changing and differ from user to user. We’ve examined north of 1,000 different search results over a period of time, to determine the maximum number of search results shown on average.
The maximum number of search results shown by Google on the first SERP, is on average 43. The number is lower for mobile users if you do not take into account the ability to swipe left or right on certain sections. Organic image search results were determined to be a “wild card” in our search process due to the amount of times they show up with others. If you take out the image search results, there is an average maximum of only 31 listings on the first page of Google, with 45% of these being organic and 55% being paid.
Google shows up to 26 total organic search results in search, however, that composition is quite rare (4 featured snippets, 3 top stories, 3 videos, 10 standard SERPS, 1 Local Graph/Knowledge Graph, 3 map pack listings and 12 image results). There are some others that are shown but even with these, images are not normally displayed at up to 12 images and the images do not have the same level of prominence as most others. Usually, organic search results only display 14 total listings.
Featured snippets can really range on Google search results but on average, there are 4 maximum featured snippets provided.
Google shows up to 3 top stories at the top of the first page of Google search results.
Google can show up to 3 videos on the first page of search results.
Generally, there are 10 standard, organic search results shown on each page of Google.
Google only allows a single business to be shown on the local graph on the right side of the search results (on desktop), or the top of organic search results (on mobile).

There are usually no more than 3 organic map listings on search results. More can be found by selecting “More businesses” in the Map Pack, in which the user will be taken to Google maps search.

Google shows up to 12 images in search results.

Depending on your device, the first page of Google can show up to 17 ads on a single page. This can be seen by an ad that triggers Product Listing Ads (9 on the right rail), paid search ads (4 above organic search, 3 below organic search) and one Map Ad.
There are generally no more than 3 shown on the first page of Google for select categories that are provided.

However, on mobile SERPs, there are only two Local Service Ads shown:

If the Product Listing ads are shown on the right hand side of the search results page, there can be up to 9 PLAs shown.

However, on Mobile it only shows two PLA’s, while more can be seen through scrolling:

Google shows up to 4 text paid search ads at the top of Google search results, and another 3 at the bottom of SERPs, for a total of up to 7 text paid search ads shown on a single page.

Google shows up to 1 Paid Map Ad on top of the Local Map Results graph on the first page of Google.
